At Carbody (Banbury) Ltd, we’ve always believed in the importance of supporting our local community. That’s why we’re incredibly proud to announce our joint sponsorship with 14 Automotive of Banbury Rugby Union Football Club (Banbury RUFC). This partnership, which began in February, strengthens our ties with Banbury and the local sporting community, furthering our commitment to community support and development.
Upcoming Junior Festival: A Key Event in Our Partnership
We are excited to support and attend the upcoming Banbury RUFC Mini Rugby Festival on Sunday, 23rd March 2024, at Graf UK Stadium, Oxford Road, Bodicote, OX15 4AF. This fantastic event will bring together rugby clubs from across Oxfordshire and surrounding counties for a day of fun, competition, and camaraderie. Coaches, managers, and administrators will gather to celebrate the sport and its players, and we’re happy to be part of such a key event in the local rugby calendar. It’s a great opportunity to see the community spirit in action and further demonstrate our support for the next generation of rugby players.
A New Era for Carbody (Banbury) Ltd and 14 Automotive
Carbody (Banbury) Ltd, a family-run independent bodyshop established in 1979, has been a staple in the Banbury community for decades, offering trusted, expert vehicle repair services. With BS10125 Kitemark accreditation and 11 Manufacturer Approvals, we ensure the highest standards of care for our customers. In 2023, Carbody (Banbury) Ltd acquired Wheel Deal Tyres, rebranding it as 14 Automotive—a name that continues to reflect our deep-rooted commitment to exceptional service and local expertise.
Though the Wheel Deal Tyres name has changed, our dedication to friendly, reliable, and tailored customer service remains the same. 14 Automotive services now extend across cars, vans, motorhomes, and fleets, offering a range of services from alloy wheel refurbishment to tyres and precision wheel alignment.
Supporting the Community: A Vehicle for Banbury RUFC
As part of our sponsorship, Carbody (Banbury) Ltd and 14 Automotive have provided Banbury RUFC with a fully branded community coaches’ vehicle. This van will be used by the club’s rugby coaches to deliver sessions in local schools and community groups, making rugby more accessible to both abled and disabled participants. This initiative is designed to inspire young players, promote physical activity, and ensure that rugby is available to all, regardless of background or ability.

Banbury RUFC’s Director of Rugby, Matt Goode, expressed his gratitude upon receiving the vehicle:
“This sponsorship is a game-changer for our community outreach. Having a dedicated vehicle allows us to bring the sport to more young players, schools, and groups, ensuring that rugby remains at the heart of Banbury. We’re incredibly grateful to 14 Automotive and Carbody for their support—it’s partnerships like these that make a real difference.”
The vehicle was officially handed over ahead of last Saturday’s senior match between Banbury Bulls and Syston. It was an exciting match, with the Bulls making a valiant second-half comeback, but Syston ultimately clinched the win 21-17.
Match Day Sponsorship and Celebrations
Alongside providing the community vehicle, Carbody (Banbury) Ltd and 14 Automotive proudly sponsored the match day event. The hospitality was lively, featuring a three-course meal, a raffle, keynote speeches, and a fantastic afternoon of rugby. We were thrilled to host a table of 10, enjoying the warm camaraderie and passionate atmosphere that Banbury RUFC is known for.
After the match, our Founders and Managing Director, Leon Smith, presented the 1st XV Player of the Match award to Quinten Blythe and Matt Dandy for their exceptional performances in both backs and forwards.

Leon Smith, Managing Director of Carbody (Banbury) Ltd and 14 Automotive, shared his thoughts on the partnership:
“We’re honoured to support Banbury RUFC—not just on match days but throughout the season with the community coaching vehicle. Local sports clubs play such an important role in bringing people together, and we’re proud to be part of that journey. We look forward to seeing the vehicle in action, making rugby more accessible and inspiring the next generation of players.”
A Proud Partnership with Banbury RUFC
At Carbody (Banbury) Ltd, our commitment to giving back to the local community is at the heart of everything we do. Banbury RUFC is a fantastic club with a strong sense of community spirit, and we are incredibly proud to support them both on and off the pitch. We look forward to seeing the positive impact of the community coaching vehicle and continuing our partnership with Banbury RUFC in the seasons ahead.
