In this role, you’ll play a crucial part in evaluating and determining the extent of vehicle damage, providing accurate assessments for repairs and insurance purposes. Key Duties
1. Vehicle Inspection:
Conduct thorough inspections of damaged vehicles to assess the extent of damage and identify repair needs.
Utilise diagnostic tools and equipment to identify both visible and hidden damages.
2. Documentation and Reporting:
Prepare detailed and accurate damage reports, including photographs, measurements, and written descriptions.
Document and catalogue all damaged components and provide estimates for repair costs.
3. Communication:
Collaborate with insurance adjusters, repair technicians, and clients to discuss assessment findings and recommendations.
Clearly communicate repair estimates and timelines to relevant stakeholders.
4. Research and Stay Informed:
Stay current on industry standards, repair techniques, and automotive technologies.
Research and analyse repair costs to provide accurate estimates.
5. Customer Service:
Assist clients in understanding the assessment results and address any questions or concerns.
Maintain a professional and customer-focused approach during interactions.
6. Negotiation:
Work with insurance companies to negotiate repair costs and ensure fair settlements.
Advocate for the best interests of the client while maintaining positive relationships with insurance providers.
What you must have
- A passion for the automotive industry and previous experience of working within it. (ideally in the key disciplines of auto repair – mechanical, panel or paint).
- A positive attitude and a hunger to learn and progress
- Great communication skills and an ability to connect with people
- Customer service skills
- Hold a full driving licence
- An attention to detail and a willingness to see a job to completion
- Flexibility and adaptability – a willingness to get stuck in and help out
It would be highly advantageous to have
- Previous experience as a Bodyshop Estimator / Vehicle Damage Assessor
- Previous experience on the workshop floor of a bodyshop
- Be experienced in using Audatex estimating software
- An ATA qualification
